for those who care:
i get occasional requests from businesses and
recruiters and other such to post information
about their jobs to the sf-lug mailing list.
some sf-lug members have expressed opinions
and the result has been our policy for job
postings:
* must specify job title, city location, and
salary range (at least a lowest figure).
* ascii format
* up to five paragraphs that describe required
job skills, applicant experience, company
policies and benefits, and contact information.
* no hyperbole: anyone qualified knows what the
industry is like and won't be fooled by
romantic puffery.
i present the policy for your review and
in the process sneak in sarah's job info.

Hi Jim,
Unfortunately our policy to not disclose salary before a candidate
completes interviewing. In any case, thank you so much for all of your
help. If any of your members express interest in working at Google,
please feel free to forward them my contact information. I would be more
than happy to assist them.
Thanks again,

thanks for your reply. the agreed-upon policy
requires a low number and, optionally, a high
number. pick the lowest reasonable salary and
we can post it.
from our point of view, the salary range lets
us qualify the job. from your point of view, the
salary range acts as a filter: those who want
too much and those who feel unqualified tend not
to respond.
