The papers are predicting that today's (TUESDAY'S) primary election --
all the offices and measures _other_ then the presidential vote that was
moved to February -- will have record low turnout. Which is great for
me, because I know what's best for you, and you can trust me to look
after your interest. So, thank you for staying home. Relax. I and a
very few other people will be glad to look after things.

Among the things you'll not want to bother thinking about:

o Two statewide ballot propositions. One is by the property-interest
"Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association" and would ban rent control.
  The other, not.

o Primary campaigns for: All state Assemblymen. Many state Senators.
All members of the House of Representatives.

o Superior Court judges in some places.

o Members of party central committees.

o County boards of supervisors.

o City/town councils (for those who live in cities or towns).

o County measures. San Mateo County will vote a 1/8% sales tax increase
  proposal, for example.

o Various city and special-district parcel tax proposals.

In order to ensure that you're not bothered by the election, you'll need
to stay away from your polling place between 7 AM and 8 PM, today.
To find the exact address you want to stay away from, and to see a
sample of the ballot you'll want to carefully avoid handling, visit
http://www.smartvoter.org/ and provide your Zip Code, etc.

On behalf of the few of us who will be deciding the election, thank you
all for making our votes count!
