Position Title: Senior Linux Systems Engineer
Location: San Francisco, CA
Pay Range: 100K Direct-Hire
 
Position Description:
Leader in On-Demand Transportation Solutions Seeks a highly skilled and 
driven Senior Linux Systems Engineer to join our growing team.  You 
will be designing and supporting an advanced application platform. 
We’re looking for talent with a combination of great analytical, 
technical, and communication skills. Must be able to manage 40+ Linux 
systems in a distributed computing environment; Configure system and 
network parameters; Monitor system stability and performance; Help 
ensure 24x7 operations; and Evaluate new technology.
 
Requirements:
• Passion for Linux, Java, and Open Source technologies
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, 
Engineering or a related field
• 5+ years experience administering Linux systems in a distributed 
computing environment
• Solid scripting ability in Shell, PHP, Perl or Python. Demonstrated 
fluency in at least one of these scripting/coding languages is 
required.
• Strong understanding of and ability to implement clustering and other 
high availability methods.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, familiarity with common 
networking devices, and the ability to use tools such as SNMP and 
TCPdump to monitor activity, diagnose problems and optimize performance
• In-depth knowledge of Webservers and Applications Servers (Apache, 
JBoss, Tomcat), firewalls/security, NIS/NFS, DNS, MTAs
 
Compensation:
Compensation includes a competitive base salary and stock options. We
