I tend to be happy with just about any port in a storm.  I.e., just
about any live CD and (actually) many distro installer disks can serve
as decent recovery media.

Though, if you're collecting distro ISO (and I guess I am), there are
better tools of a specialised nature:

o RIP (Recovery Is Possible)
o GParted CD
o grml
o SuperRescue CD
o SystemRescueCd  
o Timo's Rescue CD

I have all of those in my kit, and kinda feel a grandfatherly affection,
since I helped design the Linuxcare Bootable Business Card that
inspired pretty much all live-CD distros including Knoppix.

(Sorry, I'm not going to compare & contrast those, for you.)
