Hi, Don! To the extent that Michael Paoli, I, and other BALUG active
volunteers know of virtual LUG meetings, we add them to the wiki page:

https://www.wiki.balug.org/wiki/doku.php?id=balug:covid-19#virtual_meetings

You said _local_: One of the silver linings of the pandemic is that
it's reminded the Linux community that we are active around the globe,
and IMO you should consider being active in LUGs elsewhere in the world
that hold events in the English language. For example, I participate in
online LUG meetings in England, India, Norway, and Australia.

Of course, to do that, you will need to deal with time zone differences,
which are crucial. Take your pick of dozens of Web sites that will
convert times from a distant location's time zone to yours, e.g.,
https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html .

If you want to know what time it is _now_ in any place in the world, and
happen to have a Linux system at your disposal, the 'zdump' utility will
do it for you. Here's a recipe:

:r! grep worldclock .bashrc
    alias worldclock='zdump America/{Los_Angeles,Phoenix,Mexico_City,New_York,Toronto,Sao_Paulo} Europe/{London,Berlin,Oslo,Moscow} Asia/{Calcutta,Shanghai,Tokyo} Australia/{Perth,Melbourne} Pacific/Auckland'

Here is its current output:

~ $ worldclock
America/Los_Angeles Tue Oct 20 19:13:35 2020 PDT
America/Phoenix Tue Oct 20 19:13:35 2020 MST
America/Mexico_City Tue Oct 20 21:13:35 2020 CDT
America/New_York Tue Oct 20 22:13:35 2020 EDT
America/Toronto Tue Oct 20 22:13:35 2020 EDT
America/Sao_Paulo Wed Oct 21 00:13:35 2020 BRST
Europe/London Wed Oct 21 03:13:35 2020 BST
Europe/Berlin Wed Oct 21 04:13:35 2020 CEST
Europe/Oslo Wed Oct 21 04:13:35 2020 CEST
Europe/Moscow Wed Oct 21 06:13:35 2020 MSD
Asia/Calcutta Wed Oct 21 07:43:35 2020 IST
Asia/Shanghai Wed Oct 21 10:13:35 2020 CST
Asia/Tokyo Wed Oct 21 11:13:35 2020 JST
Australia/Perth Wed Oct 21 10:13:35 2020 WST
Australia/Melbourne Wed Oct 21 13:13:35 2020 EST
Pacific/Auckland Wed Oct 21 15:13:35 2020 NZDT

Anyway, there's really no reason to limit yourself to _local_ LUG online
events. The ones elsewhere around the globe are equally accessible.
