Not that I haven't seen some very convoluted strategy from our
overlords... but Don Marti explanation seems way more logical and the
fact that it is contributing to push the need for more energy is just a
welcomed side effect for all the rentiers.
How we got here it's not even hard to understand...
Most of BigTech lives on advertising. Targeted advertising need to
understand text, they had access to lot of text etc...
They were already producing a lot of slop with much simpler bots.
Advertising is also important for politics...
But now all this slop is showing its limit.
Revenue vs. stock value now is hard to justify.
They need to find something to increase their margin and push their stocks.
Fire people. Get into a new bubble.
People are justifiably angry but blame the tool (that is just an
incremental advancement in technology, not a revolution) and not how it
is used, why and by whom.
The latter is responsible for all the side effects, not the tool.
The tool is fine and reasonably useful.
BTW I agree with Ron, nuclear is another speculation and another attempt
to create choke points for rentiers
