I guarantee you that a FAANG known for its AI and able to create the kind of Mercurial-AI integration I described (and quoted) isn't hurting because they're using a less-common SCM.

Monorepos are better suited for Mercurial. I may not be overly fond of it, but it's a solid choice in many ways. The one catch is that, having contracted at two FAANGs that used Mercurial, both implementations were quite different in the tooling around them, but that's because they were both built in-house.
