I've been using Debian Sid with the 32-bit compatibility packages
and have recently run into this puzzle when trying to do an
  apt-get update
  apt-get dist-upgrade
The dist-upgrade stops with this dependency problem:

dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of libffi8:amd64:
libffi8:i386 (3.4.3-1) breaks libffi8ubuntu1 and is unpacked but not
configured
.
 libffi8:amd64 (3.4.3-1) provides libffi8ubuntu1.

dpkg: error processing package libffi8:amd64 (--configure):
dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Errors were encountered while processing:
libffi8:amd64
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

I tried to find the workaround mentioned in this thread,
but my search skills seem to be lacking, or I'm not
understanding what the thread is saying:
  https://groups.google.com/g/linux.debian.bugs.dist/c/MdeFJqmrsBg?pli=1

Do I just have to wait for the package maintainer to fix
the issue, or is there some other way?

It seems bad to not be able to update.

The reason I'm using Sid on this machine is because it seems to be the only
distro
that manages to get audio, bluetooth (ASUS USB-BT400)
and three monitor setup working properly on this
little Dell Optiplex 7010
CPU: Intel Core i5-3550 @3.30 GHz (3rd generation processor)
RAM: 8GB (2 x 4GB)
SSD: SAMSUNG 830 (120GB) - debian installed here
Hard Drive: Western Digital 500GB
Graphics: Intel HD graphics
Video output: 2 x Display Port, 1 x VGA

Cheers,
Peter.
