Rick,
Thank you for the long analysis.
Here is my terse condensation of the situation.
800,000 Americans have died from Covid-19.Out of the US population, that's about 3 people out of every 1000. As has been well discussed, some groups are lower and some higher.
Yes, all medications have some risks. After the initial approval of J&J, there were some much publicized "problems". Out of the many people who got J&J, roughly 1 in 100,000 had a significant condition. And that was enough to pause the J&J until there was more data.
Combining the numbers, someone not vaccinated is 300 times more likely to die from Covid than if they had taken J&J followed by a bad reaction. Furthermore, the issue with J&J is now understood. It applies only to certain groups of people. Medical people can quickly recognize it and give the appropriate treatment. The patient can expect to recover.
Full disclosure: I had Pfizer before J&J was approved. And the booster when the prevailing opinion was to have the booster of the same vaccine as the original.
Now I am wondering if my next booster, whenever that is promoted, should be J&J so as to add a different line of defense to the castle model.

I've been wanting to update the COVID-19 situatio. The situation
keeps morphing and being difficult to describe simply, but I need to
send something out before we run out of 2021. So, this is being written
quickly and without re-editing. Also, things I say may look silly or
obsolete in a week.
Most important: Get the damned booster. Here's one reason:
