Paul asked why Pfizer needs to be kept at sub-arctic temperatures.
You could be right about testing for that complicating things. Another
hypothesis:
mRNA is incredibly fragile. Moderna has its own proprietary lipid
nanobubble containing the mRNA. Their particles are less heat sensitive.

They could have looked for asymptomatic cases.  They just would need to
test for viral proteins other than SPIKE or look for antibodies to
something other than SPIKE.
Asymptomatic cases could have been tracked if there were at home LAMP tests
that were cheap and could be run daily. They amplify viral RNA. They could
have a test for antibodies to things other than SPIKE. Other viral proteins
are not made by the  mRNA vaccines.
