Speaking of SOPA, turns out the bill's main author and sponsor apparently violated copyright law by using an image without attribution on his political website. Check out http://mashable.com/2012/01/12/sopa-sponsor/  One of the commenters notes the guy's website is now "down for maintenance", so the image is expected to be removed.

Another reason to avoid being a Comcast customer.

Direct link (i.e., not mediated by pulse.me) to the cited story is:
http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/12/comcast-network-upgrade-blocks-dns-blocking-could-make-sopa-sel/

A minor point:  You may have noticed a box on the front page of
http://linuxmafia.com/ called 'Dept. of Web-Search Juice'.  Because my
Web server has fairly high search prominence, some years ago, I started
posting links within that box to pages I hope to help show up on
searches of the anchor terms I use for the links.  Thus, one of my two
links marked 'Comcast' now go to the above-mentioned story about Comcast
abusing DNS technology to manipulate its customers.

Most (not all) links in my 'Dept. of Web-Search Juice' are effectively a
Hall of Shame.

Without objecting in any way to what you say, I'll just point out that
any Comcast customer who uses non-Comcast recursive DNS (his or her own,
OpenDNS, Google Public DNS) would completely evade Comcast's attempt to
control its customers through DNS redirection.

Getting back to your point, though, I absolutely concur:  Having found
out that Comcast was cheating you on billing, it was and is logical to
assume that a firm crooked in one area is probably crooked in many
areas.
