I'm pretty sure sshfs was the one the bastion host at VA Linux Systems
used.

glusterfs is a set of cluster semantics on top of a separate underlying
network filesystem, which can be NFS as one choice among others (CIFS) --
though there is also a 'Gluster Native' option for the network-access
layer.  They call it a stackable system.
