Delighted to hear it.

There are laptops for which doing major internal surgery is a nightmare,
and others where it is not so bad (though that may depend on what you're
doing).  The best first step seems to be, as you did, to consult online 
guides for do-it-yourselfers.  They are increasingly common, including
video run-throughs, and can let you know in advance what you'd be
getting yourself into.
