As I replied to Roger, after I posted my question, I finally
remembered the word I could not think of "escape". Once I used
"escape" in my query, I found a document in pdf that answered my
question.

I will try your solution too.

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my question!

By using \textbackslash I'm able to display LaTeX markup in a LaTeX
document. I'll have to see if there are instances when that and
\atsign don't do what I need.
