That was my guess.  I attempt to keep track of wireless
network-management apps in my knowledgebase, here:  "Wireless" on 
http://linuxmafia.com/kb/Hardware/  (The page is a bit in flux, and I
need to catch up on new items on Jean Tourrilhes's page, linked at the
bottom.)

I'm a little more likely to see it using wmsystray
(http://kai.vm.bytemark.co.uk/~arashi/wmsystray/) under Window Maker --
but we'll see.  I used the Xubuntu Alternate CD for installation
purposes partly because I wanted to see how Xfce4 does on an old 128MB
RAM 700MHz G3 (not bad), but I'll _probably_ cut over to Window Maker 
as usual.  (I might change my mind if Xfce4 grows on me.)
