I have installed blackbox, themes, bbconf & bbkeys. I started to use the Menu editor but it
wont let me save the entrys to the file. It says create a file
at ?usr/share/blackbox/menus . Does that mean sudo vi menu to create a
file? or sudo mkdir menus to create a directory? I've have it done both
ways and the bbconf doesn't let me save either way. I did a chown jla
menus on the directory.
jla at vstrom:/usr/share/blackbox$ ls
backgrounds menu nls styles
jla at vstrom:/usr/share/blackbox$ sudo vi menu.
jla at vstrom:/usr/share/blackbox$ ls
backgrounds menu menu. nls styles
I created menu(a directory) and menu.(a file) in the above list.
jla at vstrom:/usr/share/blackbox$ bbconf
Could not open config file: /home/jla/.bbconf/config
Using internal defaults for plugin.
It wants to default to /usr/share/blackbox/menu which I tried to create but the plugin doesn't seem to like it.
When it refers to that /home/jla/.bbconf/config.
.bbconf is a hidden file right, created from /home/jla.Sudi vi .bbconf/config?
but what does the slash /config at the end mean. Is that part of the
file name?I think the blackbox binary wants to work with .bbconf/config
or usr/share/blackbox/menus whichever is there but I can't get it to
save the menus I'm trying to create.
This file I created is owned by root root. I pasted the basic settings
into it from the wiki.
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1399 2006-01-21 17:59 .blackboxrc
This is the other directory
jla at vstrom:/usr/share/blackbox$ ls -l
total 16
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2006-01-21 14:14 backgrounds
drwxr-xr-x 2 jla root 4096 2006-01-22 18:26 menu
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 2006-01-22 19:20 menu.
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2005-05-20 05:02 nls
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2006-01-21 17:58 styles
jla at vstrom:/usr/share/blackbox$
I also have Metacity wm installed but it is not configured. bbkeys seemed to pick up on it rather than Blackbox.
What is needed to make Metacity work? Then I'd have 4 desktops.
