It is best to cross this bridge when you get to it. If you get the normal
self-install kit, it will likely come with a Siemens/Efficient Networks
SpeedStream 5100b unit, and the main services you will need will be
running on that thing rather than either of your computers, which will
likely need only dhclient. If you're able to connect either of your
machines to it to configure it, then they are pretty much already ready.
Problems that have actually arisen are always much easier to solve than
problems that may show up later, so just try it first. If it doesn't work,
then will be the time to figure out why.
