How is this distribution up to v4.10 when this is the first real release.
Isn't it?

And it's still pre-release, but there's a release candidate (available since
yesterday) that they say is "potentially the final Warty release", i.e.,
Ubuntu Linux 4.10.

I have pulled down the ISO (http://www.ubuntulinux.org/download/) and burned
a CD. If I can make it to this Saturday's SVLUG installfest in north San
Jose, I'll have it with me; people will be welcome to use it or make copies.

That is, I pulled down the _i386_ binary version. Remember, this isn't your
grandma's non-portable proprietary OS: It's simultaneously equally
available and usable for AMD64 and for PowerPC.
