Journal 31: The Siege and Investiture of Queen Galadriel's Capital at Imrryr

Upon arriving at the Rock, we were taken to meet with Chief Bard Trevor. I showed him the Mystical Guitar I'd received from the Regent of Lubeck. He was duly impressed. He promised we'd find out what happenned if we used the Guitar and the Holy Amp together.

We soon discovered that Throntax's assistant, Luke, was visiting the Rock, doing some important research in the library. He was going to help with the spell which would banish the god Tezcatlipocl from this plane. This was to be done as soon as the Smokey Mirror was brought here. Trevor said that "a friend" was going to bring it. When we asked how that was possible, Trevor said, "With this guy, it's best not to ask." While we were all chatting, somebody reported to Master Trevor that a ship was approaching on the horizon. This was surprising, since the Sea Folk had blockaded the harbor. At the same time, the Amp was brought to Trevor.

Keef and I went to "guard" the Amp in a practice room, and the rest of them went to look at the ship.

"My Ship is Charmed..."

The approaching ship was black, with blue sails. Everybody except Vrba and Luke recognised it as the Plutonia, the ship which had been stolen by Dread Pirate Roberts. Vrba cast a spell, and flew out to investigate. The Plutonia was being pursued by several Sea Folk ships. Suddenly, the SF ships caught on fire and burned to ash. Looking at the Plutonia, Vrba saw and old guy taking aim at him, but then the geezer relented, and allowed Vrba to land on deck.

The captain of the ship looked a bit like a young Dread. His name was Wesley. As Vrba landed, he heard Wesley exclaim, "The Sea Folk can suck my Arrrr-se!" He introduced himself to Vrba, and he also introduced the old guy as his patron. Vrba acted like a total dork, and it took a while for him to figure out that these were the guys who were bringing the Smokey Mirror to the Rock.

The ship landed, and we all convened in a large room near the top of the structure. Master Trevor filled the old man (who said we should call him Desdenova) in on what was going on. Desdenova said, "So, Tezcat came back to our world, aaaarrrgh. There's but one thing to do: bathe the mirror in the blood of the avatar's friends and relatives. Then, we must shatter it with a mighty lightning bolt. Argh." "Did you say a mighty lightning bolt?" asked Luke. "Aye," said the old man. "Well," said Luke, "I've been studying with Throntax, and she taught me a powerful spell-- Throntax's Mystical Amplifying Spell. I can use it to combine spells cast by several mages into a much more powerful spell. So if you all cast individual Lightning Bolt spells, I can forge them into a mighty lightning bolt, indeed."

And so, it was done. Desdenova (the avatar's grandfather) and Keef, Erose, Hal, and Sanjay (who'd known her before she was posessed) bled on the slab of obsidian. Sanjay tried to resist being bloodied, saying, "I didn't know her. Okay, I did, but she wasn't my friend." Erose made him do it anyway. As the blood fell on the mirror, it literally began to smoke. Then, the mages cast their lightning bolts at a staff Luke was holding, as he chanted a spell. When he finished chanting, a huge bolt of lightning shot out from the staff to the mirror. The mirror crumbled to dust.

There was a flash, and a musclebound blonde man, wearing nothing but a furry loincloth, was standing before us. "Dude. What a trip. Where am I?" he asked. Elspeth, meanwhile, was prostrating herself before the newcomer, crying out, "My lord! You've come at last!" Thor, for it was he, said, "I need a brewski." Keef said that he didn't know what a brewski was, but would he like some whiskey? Thor took a swig from Keef's flask and announced, "I'm Thor."

At this point, we noticed the giant woman in the feathery hat who was charging across the bay towards the Rock. Apparently, the spell hadn't finished Tezcat off, after all. The mages used Throntax's amplification spell again, this time to cast a "777 fireball." The giant woman blew up. Fortunately, I put my shades on before the blast.

Carpe Diem

The destruction of Tezcatlipocl's avatar removed the Drow's supernatural assistance, and our army started to seriously kick their sorry asses. We played music, with the Amp turned to eleven, to demoralize the Drow further, and to inspire our forces. Thor brought Elspeth and Erose to the battle, and they killed many Drow, as did Vrba. Thor's take on things: "This is totally bitchin'."

After the Drow were defeated, a great banquet was held in the Royal Palace. It was great to be in civilization again. Freddie Mercury was there; it was great to see him again. Dave was still in England; Freddie hadn't heard from him in a while.

Erose drank prodigious quantities of whiskey, and ended up going to bed with Thor and Elspeth. I guess Thor hadn't had any for centuries-- there was a lot of thunder and lightning.

I later learned that Keef was seduced by the Queen! (He also said she helped him get his soul examined. As I suspected, he's an Elf who somehow got born into a human body. This must be what that old guy said about his soul being cursed.)

The Last Exit to Texas

Thor recognised the members of the Black Guard who were with us. He said that they were the guardians of Thor's hammer, which is stored in Draco's castle! (Which is why the castle was built there, in the first place.) Luke told us that he'd been researching how to break the spell on the Thousand. The key is to restore their souls, which were stolen when they were fighting the Drow.

Percival sent us all back to Steinhall, with the Amp. We arrived at Draco's castle, and Thor recovered his hammer. Then, we went down into the caverns beneath the castle, and towards the Dwarven lands. A great host of Dwarves and Draco's men was fighting the Drow. Thor used his hammer to knock the Drow into a chasm. This occasionned a protest from Draco's men, since they were hoping to have their souls restored, and then die gloriously in battle. Thor said, "No problem, dudes, I'll take care of it." They didn't all seem to be convinced. I guess time will tell.

Thor brought the Thousand, the Amp, and the rest of us up to the surface, and we stood on a hill. We set up, and started playing "Soul Survivor" on the Amp. The mages did their thing, and a great blue glow enveloped the Thousand. Their souls were restored!

Afterwards, there was some discussion of what to do next. Draco was still planning to rebel against the king. I wanted none of that. I tried to convince Keef that he shouldn't get involved with it, but he insisted on joining up. We had a big fight, and I ended up going back to Alfheim with the Amp. Vrba came with; I think he was planning to perform a single-handed invasion of England.
