Keef's answers to Mick's questions about his kidnapping and captivity. 1) What, if anything, does he remember about his period in captivity, both the time spent with Harris, and the time in Archie's dungeon. He remembered almost nothing before Freddy did his laying on of hands, except the emotions which Harris and Archie triggered. Now some things are coming back to him, and he is even more incensed about his treatment. "The last thing I remember clearly is when that fucker Harris broke my arm. I had woken up from their pathetic dosage of downers and let David go. I thought we could get away in the storm, but Harris grabbed me, and when I tried to shake him off, he nearly ripped off my bloody arm. He looked me right in the eye, and me not able to move at this point, and he snaps my arm with a smile on his face. Then he crammed some shit down my throat, and things got fuzzy for a long time." "Believe me, Mick, whatever that stuff was, it is not recreational. It made me so sick I could hardly eat, and I was only awake about every two days anyway. It was an extended bad trip. Once they had me in shackles instead of ropes, they let me come up from under it for longer periods of time. That was worse, 'cause that shit is addictive as hell. When we were sailing to England, Harris used to wait until I was screaming for it. He thought it was funny that I asked to be drugged. He also told me that you were dead. He's a great fucking liar." "Actually, most of the time he acted like I didn't exist, but sometimes he just got a wild hare up his ass and decided to take it out on me. Teri and Linweir didn't interfere, but they didn't participate either. They are mercenaries, plain and simple, although I don't think Linweir is as hard as she acts. If I'd actually been awake to talk to her, I might know more. Harris is something else. He reminds me of Draco. He also seemed interested in the effect the amp had on me. Sometimes he'd leave it close by, and then he'd send it off somewhere." "Despite my broken arm, I think Harris wanted me alive and relatively healthy. He told me that I wasn't allowed to die, ever again. He thought that was funny, too. I'd like to rip his fucking lungs out." "I was almost completely out of it when I got to England. I remember some bloody cellar with scribbles on the wall, and my chest ached. I saw some creepy priests, and I did see Archie. Felt like someone walked over my grave, although I didn't know what was real and what was hallucination by then. He wouldn't call me by my name, so just to piss him off, I said it. He didn't like it at all. Serves him right. What a ponce, snatching somebody he didn't want to see or hear about. I had a hard time breathing, and then I passed out, and woke up at David's." "Dave got a sage in to look at me, and she said that what Harris gave me was a kind of poison she'd never seen before. Another few months and I'd have been dead, but since that's not what Harris seemed to want, maybe that's why he gave me less when we got close to England." 2) Mick tells him about the "Lantern" dream. What does he think about that. "Yeah, I was working on that song before I got grabbed. Nice lyrics, Mick. Maybe you're finally connecting to the cosmic source of music. As to the blokes in your dream, well, you know how dreams are. And just what do you mean when you say my voice sounded good for a change?" "I spent my time dreaming that you were being murdered in front of me. For a change of pace, I'd dream that I was being impaled on shards of glass, or that my hands were broken. Man, I never want to go through that again." 3) Mick tells him the story of the adventures since he was kidnapped, editing out any direct reference to the possibility that he may have been Keef Glimmer in a past life (since it is considered very bad luck to have conscious knowledge of one's past lives). Mick DOES mention the possibility that Keef's soul might be cursed, and that he should get that looked into. "I'll tell you what, this is a great example of Karma coming home to roost. It's nice to know that you cats care about me enough to go through all that just for me. Well, and the Amp, too. That Dave's a strange bloke, but I appreciate all he's done for me." "This England place sounds like it needs some serious liberating. It's a good thing Freddy's got that aim in mind, 'cause I'd hate to have to steal the Amp from him. By the way, I came up with a tune one time when I was awake. You should put some words to it." (He plays the melody to Gimme Shelter.) "It's very atmospheric, man. It seems to go with the times, you know?" He says he will get his soul examined, but seems puzzled. "D'you mean that something bad's going to happen to me in the future, like? My life hasn't been too bad, except for the past couple of months, of course. I mean, what kind of curse are you talking about? Wouldn't BRB Sr. have noticed it?" 4) How does he like Dave? "I'd like to meet him again now that I'm feeling better. I've only known him under three circumstances: in a downpour while we were being chased and I was fighting that bloody poison, while I was unconscious, and while I was in withdrawal. Thinking back on it with a clear head, he must be a nice bloke 'cause he put up with me hiding in his closets and screaming in the middle of the night, not to mention tearing up his linens and scratching off his wallpaper." "He's got three closets full of different kinds of clothes, like he is three different people. I think he needs some help. His Ziggy clothes in particular are very strange. Which reminds me, I'll have to give these back to him. Nah, fuck it, I'll keep 'em." (At this point, Freddy offers to adjust Keith's outfit for him. You can tell that he has been itching to get Keith out of those horrible clothes, possibly for more than one reason, but definitely because they are an offense in the sight of the gods. He leaves Keith in his red leather trousers, but gives him a black silk shirt with large sleeves and ruffles, and a double-breasted red and black brocade waistcoat. To top it all off, a red velvet duster. It's a bit posh for Keith, but he seems willing to put up with it, and Freddy is much happier.) 5) How about this horrid dye job Mick's got? It's vile, isn't it? (Mick's hair is now the gross brassy color that one gets when one uses cheap blonde hair dye on dark hair.) Keith thinks you look like a tart with that hair. "What on earth did you do to it?"
