Take US-101 to Mountain View, and exit
north-bound (towards the Bay) at N. Shoreline Blvd., proceeding on
N. Shoreline to a right turn at the second
intersection, Pear Ave. Proceed one long block to a right turn into
the parking lot for the light-industrial complex at 1235 Pear Ave.
(Look for a sign listing VA Research as one of the businesses.)
Please park on Pear Ave., out of consideration to the occupants.
VA Research (Suite 111) is in the building at the back of the parking lot.

Either take BART or AC Transit (routes 6, 12, 14, 15,
40, 43, 57, and C) to MacArthur BART
in Oakland, or, by car...
From I-580 westbound (coming from points south and east), go
through the MacArthur Maze, then exit immediately at Market Street,
turning right (north) onto Market. Go five blocks on Market to turn right
(east) on 40th Street. Go four+ blocks, under the CA-24 freeway,
and MacArthur BART is just before you reach Telegraph Ave.
From CA-24 westbound (coming from Berkeley and Contra Costa),
take the Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd exit, turn left (east) at
the end of the ramp onto 45th Avenue, underneath the CA-24 freeway
and one block to a right (south) turn on Telegraph. Go five
blocks to MacArthur BART.
From I-80 eastbound (coming from San Francisco), proceed through
the MacArthur Maze, taking the Broadway turnoff that branches off
inside the Maze (and is easy to miss). Turn right (southwest)
at the end of the ramp onto Broadway, and immediately right again
(west) onto 34th Street. Proceed four blocks to turn right (north)
onto Telegraph Ave. Go six blocks to MacArthur BART (on your left).
(However, if you're starting from San Francisco, consider joining us
at The CoffeeNet in South of Market, SF, instead.)

By Muni: Routes 15 Third Street, 30 Stockton, and
45 Union go past on 3rd
Street, northbound. Routes 30 Stockton and 45 Union go past on 4th Street,
southbound (but it's only a four-block stroll from 3rd and Market, or
from the Transbay Terminal).
By BART: Exit at Montgomery, walk four blocks
south along 3rd
Street to a right (west) turn onto Harrison. It's the purple building in
By CalTrain: The San Francisco terminus is at 4th
Townsend. Either take the 15 Third Street, 30 Stockton, or 45 Union Muni
buses up 3rd to Harrison, or walk north along 4th, three blocks north to a
right (east) turn on Harrison, and go 1/2 block. Return to CalTrain on
routes 30 Stockton or 45 Union from 4th St. (or walk the three blocks).
By car: From I-80 west, exit at 5th Street
half-right onto 5th, go one block to a right (east) turn onto Folsom,
three blocks to right (south) on 2nd Street, one block to right (west)
on Harrison, proceed 1 1/2 blocks. From I-80 east, take 4th Street
exit, bearing half-left (east) onto Bryant, one block to left (north)
onto 3rd Street, one block to left (west) on Harrison, and proceed
1/2 block. On-street parking is 2-hour (1-hour in the alleys) during
the day; there's a pay lot on the right (east) side of 3rd Street,
just past Harrison.

By light rail: From the Great America station,
walk south (towards US-101) three blocks to Mission College Blvd.
The Marriott is on the south-east corner.
By car: From US-101 (either direction), go to
Santa Clara and exit north/east onto Great America Parkway. Go two
blocks to a right turn onto Mission College Blvd. Pass the Marriott main
entrance (first traffic light) to a right turn at the second traffic light
onto Freedom Circle. Proceed to a right turn at the second driveway
entrance, and find the tennis courts at the rear of the lot. We'll
meet at post "F7".
From the CA-237 freeway, take the Great America Parkway exit. Proceed
south on Great America Parkway about seven blocks to a left (east) turn
onto Mission College Blvd. Continue as shown in the directions from
