I don't know if ftp works since I always use ssh (or scp).

Rsync has the disadvantage, unless you configure it quite carefully,
of not properly managing file checkins.  We use RCS.  But you could
sync a few things into staging space in your home directory, compare
them against whet you're about to replace, then do checkout/replace/checkin
more quickly than otherwise.

While quite a bit on the old side, teams/web-team.shtml might help
a few things make sense.  Amy also had a webstyleguide.shtml, which is
where I got the reference for the font.
