Quoting Friday's blogpost https://jitsi.org/blog/changes-coming/ : ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Changes coming to meet.jit.si Published on: October 9, 2026 by saghul Categories: Featured | Jitsi Meet | meet.jit.si | Press Release Starting today, meetings on meet.jit.si are limited to 95 minutes. More changes are coming, stay tuned! ❤️ Your personal meetings team. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ One mentioned alternative to get around this time limitation is to logout of a Jitsi Meet session _before_ the 95 minute timeout, and then re-login afterwards as a _new_ Jitsi Meet session. Also, possible Jitsi Meet alternatives include at least the popular Discord https://discord.com/ and Signal https://signal.org/ Further thoughts on this? -A === From ron at bclug.ca Sun Oct 11 15:38:50 2026 From: ron at bclug.ca (Ron) Date: Sun, 11 Oct 2026 15:38:50 -0700 Subject: [sf-lug] Meetings on meet.jit.si limited to 95min In-Reply-To: <48d57d319a77c8d6f43c77b060e548e8.squirrel@mx.sdf.org> References: <48d57d319a77c8d6f43c77b060e548e8.squirrel@mx.sdf.org> Message-ID: On 2026-10-11 13:41, aaronco36 at sdf.org wrote: > Starting today, meetings on meet.jit.si are limited to 95 minutes. > > Further thoughts on this? Did wee search of my email, I have one quite similar, but from months ago. > Not sure why it'd be looking for SMS related to "incomming" [sic] email > address:ron at bclug.ca? Looks to me likely some backscatter crud from some drain bamaged mail misconfiguration or (dis)service, from/via some subscriber on the SF-LUG list. Bit more research and ... yeah, at least from the one I received, doesn't appear to have enough detail, even with full headers, to identify the problematic list subscriber. :-/ Dug into logs on linuxmafia.com ... found corresponding email addresses ... checked (my automagic backup copies of) SF-LUG subscriber list, found pair of matching email addresses, of form: #@sms.message-service.org #@tts.message-service.org Where both of those have for # the same 10-digit number, which would appear to be a phone number. I sent text message to that phone number, effectively telling them they ought not subscribe such an email address (and I gave the two subscribed) that cause such backscatter. If they don't fix it, mail admin could, e.g. unsubscribe the address(es), ban the address(es) (or even domain(s)) from subscribing. Oh, also looking over my version control (RCS) on changes of subscribers, looks like they added those two addresses around 2026-07-19T13:27:28Z, or up to about 24 hours earlier than that (the sync, comparison, and change tracking generally occurs daily) The earlier backscatter I got was 2026-09-01 (apparently/presumably triggered from my monthly posting of the list stats). Anyway, maybe at least from my text that I sent to the number, they'll self-correct and unsubscribe the offending email address(es). > -------- Forwarded Message -------- > Subject: Error report for EmailToSMS > Date: Mon, 12 Oct 2026 09:39:23 +1100 > From: EmailToSMS > To: ron at bclug.ca > > Sorry, there was an error processing your EmailToSMS. > The error was: > No live user found for this incomming email address:ron at bclug.ca From rick at linuxmafia.com Mon Oct 12 02:50:45 2026 From: rick at linuxmafia.com (Rick Moen) Date: Mon, 12 Oct 2026 02:50:45 -0700 Subject: [sf-lug] Fwd: Error report for EmailToSMS In-Reply-To: References: <2c5fd0ff-28bf-4aa8-83df-a002fc5c14d4@bclug.ca> Message-ID: <20261012095045.GS25641@linuxmafia.com> Quoting Michael Paoli (michael.paoli at berkeley.edu): > Dug into logs on linuxmafia.com ... found corresponding email addresses ... > checked (my automagic backup copies of) SF-LUG subscriber list, > found pair of matching email addresses, of form: > #@sms.message-service.org > #@tts.message-service.org > Where both of those have for # the same 10-digit number, > which would appear to be a phone number. Yeah, I also recently noticed and force-unsubscribed the same two (I think) from the conspire at linuxmafia.com mailing list. So: I have just now unsubbed the same pair from sf-lug at linuxmafia.com, in the nqme of immediate efficiency.
