SF-LUG September 2026 Meeting notice -- for 2026-09-06 mtg
-------------------------------------------------------------
San Francisco Linux Users' Group's next meeting is this upcoming Sunday,
September 6th, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM PDT.
Yep, that's on Labor Day Weekend.
Selectively quoting from the SF-LUG's current webpage www.sf-lug.org[01] :

As per Michael's posting [09] on the possibility of future physical? meetups:
--- Quoting SF-LUG's current webpage[01] ----
Since 2020-03-17, it's been exceedingly rare that anyone shows up in
person, and if/when they do, they've (generally?) found no other SF-LUG
person(s) there. So, if contemplating showing up physically, may want to
first check on the list, e.g. see if anyone else is intending to show up
in person or has recently done so. In anycase, remains available for
meetings:
Cafe Enchante, on Geary at 26th Ave in San Francisco.
If you do go there, probably best if at least one such attendee there
(which might be just you), also join virtually, so there can be one
connected meeting, rather than two entirely disconnected meetings.

Interesting news of the availability for sale of the Fairphone 6; fwd'd
from Bobbie S.
For those of us interested in escaping the scrutiny of Google [Bobbie
S] copied the following from a recent Distrowatch newsletter [10].
Quoting from that 2026-08-24 NEW DistroWatch Weekly, Issue 1187

Fairphone 6 sold in USA, Bazzite updates Deck images, performance
improvements in Linux 7.2, RPM fixes lock issue
The Fairphone is making its way across the Atlantic ocean, from Europe
to the United States. Fairphone smart phones are designed to be modular
with replaceable parts, making them well suited for long-term use, and
the devices are bundled with a five year warranty. The Fairphone 6[11]
is now available in the United States for the first time and, along
with it, there are some de-Googled options for the Fairphone 6,
including /e/OS from Murena[12]. The modular phone can be purchased
directly from Fairphone's store[13] or through Murena's on-line shop[14].
