Sure, some further thoughts on this...
1) Crunchbangplusplus's DistroWatch page is at [1], its main project
website is at [2], its FAQ page is at [3], and its Downloads page is at
[4].
Please notice from the top of the FAQ [3] that the login username and
password for the live image are both 'live' without the quotes.
2) Apparently from its DistroWatch page [1], the last Crunchbangplusplus
13.0 release was 2025-08-19 and its Popularity ranking (hits per day) is:
12 months: 264 (48), 6 months: 292 (49), 3 months: 306 (44), 4 weeks: 269
(46), 1 week: 233 (47)
3) IMNSHO, there is a better and more up-to-date Linux distro with the
Openbox window manager called 'Lilidog' that would do very well thank you
when installed onto a Chromebook.
Its DistroWatch page is at [5], sleekmason's (distro maintainer's)
'Lilidog' GitHub site is at [6], and the SourceForge.net Lilidog Releases
downloads page is at [7].
Apparently from its DistroWatch page [5], the latest Lilidog release was
2026-02-06 and its Popularity ranking (hits per day) is:
12 months: 323 (36), 6 months: 209 (72), 3 months: 116 (146), 4 weeks: 29
(441), 1 week: 121 (135)
4) From the most recent SourceForge.net Lilidog Releases downloads page
[7], there are currently 3 builds from the Lilidog project available:
Lilidog, Beardog, and Waydog.
Lilidog - Comes with most everything necessary to get started. This
includes Firefox, LibreOffice, Geany, Thunar, xfce4-terminal, Pragha,
Gpicview, Fastfetch, Jgmenu, and inxi among others.
^^^===> This is the most likely Lilidog build which one _should_ install
on a Chromebook, as it includes Firefox and other apps "necessary to get
started" with this lightweight, Debian-based distro.
Other available but unrecommended builds are
- Beardog - The 'bare' version of Lilidog. Beardog starts without a
display manager on login, though two different Lightdm versions can be
installed from the initial welcome script.
- Waydog - A version based on Wayland instead of X11. This version has
Labwc and Sway compositors installed, with Waybar for the panel and
Waypaper to provide wallpapers. Fully customized Niri and Wayfire WMs are
available from the Waydog installers.
Lilidog 2026.02.06 with its customised Openbox window manager is even
lighter than Debian 13.3 Trixie [8] with the LXQt desktop environment
installed and loaded.
There you have it :-)
