Hi LUGers,

Had meeting between 11 and 1 PM at https://meet.jit.si/sf-lug.org.
All you need to join us there is a late version of Firefox or Chrome.
You can go to the site anytime If your browser is incompatible with the
Jit.si stack it will tell you so then you can go get a browser that
works.
I got to the meeting about 10:56 AM.
     John S. had preceded me.
     Shortly Ken S. showed up.
Akkana P. was the next to show up,
     Tom then came along.
Arrron C.  Came to the meeting promoting the Book of Vi and the
Shallows
but he was not at home but staying with and helping a person who was ill so
he  did not personally participate much.
     Al came along eventually.
Michael P. came along doing things with his scripts and minor updates.

John brought up the new generation of consumer 3d Printers.
Look up Glowforge on the net to find out more those printers.

I read the news from the digital issue of Linux Pro Issue 241.
Still have not done the precis of the issue but it should be along
soon.

Then foolishly perhaps tried to demonstrate the Fedora 33 Workstation
but it was very clumsily done.  It does run in VirtualBox and not too badly
but showing it to other people in a Jit.si meeting is a bit difficult
though.
It is using Gnome of course.  I had a lot of problems installing it in
VB because despite the compact size of Fedora Workbench it takes
up a lot more space than VB would anticipate.   Finally gave it a
Virtual disk of nearly 16 GB and then it worked ok.

Al was working on code to map his network and he needs to map it as
as he has about 300 items there, sensors, controllers and other items.

I raised the question that when(and if) we resume live meetings we
should continue with Jit.si meeting so that distant members like Akkana
now in New Mexico can join us.  There was general agreement that we
should make it so.

The next Jit.si meeting will be on December 6, 2020 at the same
Jit.si place and the same Pacific Standard Time.

If anyone who attended has notes to add or corrections to make to
notes please do so ASAP so that confusion will not reign in the minds of
the people who bother to read the mailing list.

Please use a mask and stay safe at home as much as you can.

Have you voted yet?   If not do so ASAP!

Happy Thanksgiving and if we have nothing else to be thankful for
remember the election should be finished by then and that will be wonderful.

         Bobbie Sellers
