But one mustn't restrict one's self to _good_ advice. What would be the
fun of that?
Locally, members of my household have been members of the NextDoor
social media site since our cat disappeared, as it's locally the most
successful successor to thumb-tacking flyers onto corkboards. And I've
gotten a reputation there as a bit of a character. Recently, someone
there tried to promote his get-rich-quick YouTube channel with some
crank comment with the theme 'Last chance to avoid coronavirus' as his
hook. Several commenters objected to his scamming and panic-mongering.
I, on the other hand, posted this:
I wish to mention a scientific hypothesis about Covid-19, that has
exactly as much scientific credibility as you're willing to give it:
Aged and cellared wines create a hazardous risk of infection and
disease from this virus. Particular hazards are posed by grand cru
Bordeauxs, 'cru' Barolos, and vintage ports. Fortunately, in a spirt
of public service, I am willing to remove these perilous items from
your residence and dispose of them properly. *hic*
(Note for the humour-impaired. That's a jay, oh, kay, ee.)

not only more effective; it is also vastly more intelligent.'
