Well, then, I'd suggest (IMO) that those few problems are the ones that
it would be best in the long term to focus on.
Obviously, that's just my opinion, and you should make up your own mind,
of course, but you just got through saying that you had to give up on
trying Fedora because its ISO wasn't a live distro, so at least to that
extent you've been limited as to what you can even try at all. Also,
as I've detailed in the past, there's just no way that live-distro
component selection and performance can give a reasonable impression of
what it would be like to run an installed system.
On another matter, I'm really unclear on how there could be any
significant problem with VirtualBox is you give it a modest amount of
free RAM and disk space (if that's the problem area). It's really one
of the most cut-and-dry novice-friendly things around, which (along with
not costing anything) is why it's so extremely popular.

You don't specify whether you're having a problem installing VirtualBox
(which would be really weird, because you just run a canned installer
for most OSes; if running on Linux, just install a distro package) _or_
with installing something (what?) into a VM after successful VirtualBox
installation.
Also, you really shouldn't need a special Web page full of instructions.
VirtualBox in my experience doesn't really need much in the way of
documentation.

So, is the situation that you have VirtualBox running, but then for some
reason cannot boot an ISO file within a new VM window? (It's a bad sign
that I am obliged to ask, because that means I've not been able to get a
clear sense of the situation from your description.) What's the
symptom? If you don't bother to specify what went wrong, it's not
possible for anyone to help you.

The implication of Kaisen Linux shipping MATE Desktop is that it equally
supports IIRC a couple of dozen major languages. One is merely the
_default initial configuration_, judging by yours description. So, all
you have to do is find and use the language selection thingie.
