Nothing wrong with AntiX. You'll want to install antix-full if there's
enough disk space (3.8GB). Upon installation, it'll default to Rox-IceWM.
To test that vs. the other preinstalled window managers to see what's
most comfortable to an MS-Windows 7 user, do menu -> Desktop -> Other
Desktops. Your options will be:
Rox-IceWM (default)
IceWM
SpaceFM-IceWM
Rox-Fluxbox (minimalist)
Fluxbox (minimalist)
SpaceFM-Fluxbox (minimalist)
Rox-JWM (very minimalist)
JWM (very minimalist)
SpaceFM-JWM (very minimalist)
As a key to the above, lines with two items separated by a hyphen are
file manager - window manager. Which is to say that Rox and SpaceFM are
graphical file managers that that provides drag-and-drop functionality.
IceWM, Fluxbox, and JWM are window managers.
192MB RAM is the recommended minimum for antiX. 256MB RAM and above is
preferred especially for antiX-full.
But it looks like the most common shipped aount of RAM in Lenovo
IdeaPads has been 4GB. (I'm often amused by people these days
considering 'limited' amounts of RAM I consider bountiful.) Video does
steal some of the system RAM, in this case, as the IdeaPads use
integrated Intel HD graphics chips that don't provide their own RAM for
video, but rather steal it from main RAM.
Looks like many IdeaPads come with around 500GB hard drives. ;->
