via webfu found something that wasn't 'exact' problem but seemed logical
enough to try...
so i did...

[disclaimer]
not putting the link as it wasn't same exact issue.

1. hard reset the box (or try ;-))>)
     a) do this by (with box fully off) removing the battery...
     b) remove the power (ac) cord completely...
     c) press the main power button for approx. 20 seconds...
     d) boot the box (i did with just power cord first then returned
battery)

so far so Mint...

upon bootup i ran update and upgrade and saw a [warning] for non-support of
en_utf8 locale so i went ahead after checking:

[code]
#ls /usr/lib/locale/

and did another fix found by:

[code]
#locale-gen --purge --no-archive

if anyone thinks of something further i should do/run for the original
issue or what it was/is feel free to send it and thanks...

message ends.
