Hi LUGers,
Happy New Year in 2018 to all!
SF-LUG meets every first Sunday from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M.
and every third Monday from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M.
at the Cafe Enchante, 26th and Geary Boulevard.
These meetings are usually lightly attended with a high for the

and maybe we can help but if not we can usually find someone
who can.
New Linux Distributions!
Last month we had a couple of Zenial Pups and this month
we have Fatdog64-720.* The last Fatdog ran to 248 MB and this
new and fatter dog is up to 381 MB.
There is an update as well in the Puppy line, Little Debi aka
Slax is out and has more network drivers because the users
told them that if they could not get on line the basic tools
supplied were not much good.
An update to Manjaro to 17.1.0 is out, siduction 18.1.0 is out
Alt Linux 8.2, Calculate Linux is up to 17.12, ferren OA 2018.01
all of which you can find links for on Distrowatch.com.

On the 29th of December I stopped at the Fog City News and found
Linux Pro Issue 206 for January 2018.
The supplied on DVD distros this month are Ubuntu's Artful Aardvark
17.10 64 in both Desktop and Server editions.* These do have problems.
USB printers do not setup automaticallty and IPP-over-USB do not work
at all, so you can connect over Ethernet or WiFi or skip this until the
problem with 17.10 is fixed
The Editorial content focuses on Security.
Safer Boot keeping control of the Startup Process,
Making Secure Boot work with Linux using Shim Bootloader,
UEFI Tricks by adding a custom App that runs from firmware,
