Hi LUGers,

   SF-LUG meets every first Sunday from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M.
and every third Monday from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M.
at the Cafe Enchante, 26th and Geary Boulevard.

These meetings are usually lightly attended with a high for the
year so far of 7 members. If you have a problem come along
and maybe we can help but if not we can usually find someone
who can.

Come early to the meeting and you will have a easier time raising
your own agenda.

System Rescue CD
New release of version 4.8.1 for x86 computers.
Will have at least one extra copy at meeting but if you want to make
sure of getting a copy let me know early so that I can write it before
the meeting.

I had a request for Kali Linux from a party with my e-mail address
and will have copies at the meeting of both 64 and 32 bit versions.
If you want to try it out the version is 2016.01 as the Kali krew have
gone to a Rolling Release model.

Ubuntu 16.10 Beta 1 is out for testing,
The upcoming release of Ubuntu 16.10 is getting closer as the
developers deliver the first beta build. Five of the official
Ubuntu sub-projects participate in the testing - Lubuntu,
Ubuntu GNOME, Ubuntu Kylin, Ubuntu MATE and Ubuntu Studio.

I was able somehow to produce a GRUB menu that lets me boot
up the later kernels and get the system to use those 4.6.x kernels
on both PCLinux OS and Mageia on this Pavilion.

Mageia 5 is somehow messed up and will only boot if I use the
Super Grub Disk2 which i installed to a Flash Drive this on my
production machine. Did the same for the Dell E6420 but did
not need the SGD2.

So if something new is released this week or if I get a copy
of the September Linux Pro magazine I will make a followup
post about it.

I decided to post tonight as I am rather busy tomorrow
and might forget in the rush.

Hope to see some of us at the meeting,

Happy Labor Day Weekend to all whether you show up or not.

     Bobbie Sellers
