[sf-lug] Domain registrars :-) ... 8-O

I quite like this bit that Rick posted to the Conspire list not all
that long ago:
http://linuxmafia.com/pipermail/conspire/2015-December/008256.html
Among other things, includes lots of good well reference information on
many of the less than scrupulous past and present practices of many
domain registrars,
along with fair bit of recommendations of and against, and various
practical advice.

And, if one might be looking for yet another relatively current source
of opinions and
information about registrars:
https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/3ynwpw/fuck_you_network_solutions/
Includes ample anecdotal and otherwise - accounts of Network Solutions
/ Web.com
issues/problems ... along with a fair bit of godaddy accounts and
bashing thereof,
and a sprinkling of recommendations, and other miscellaneous related
and not quite so
related commentary and questions and opinions. "Of course" the title
and description
of that posting might somewhat bias / self-select those that comment
upon it ... but
probably doesn't skew the results all that incredibly much. Were it
instead an
"I love Network Solutions" or "What do you think of Network
Solutions?" posting,
I think the responses likely would've been about the same (once they
get going they
kind'a take on a life of their own, and [d]evolve into relatively predictable
pattern, based upon the registrars, and folks' experiences with them).
