Report of the SF-LUG meeting of Sunday, May 03, 2015

I left for the meeting a bit early and got there by
1035 AM and spent the time setting up. The
traffic in Cafe Enchante was light and I was able to
grab 3 tables and hold on to them until the other
attendees came in. We ended up with 4 square tables in
a row and a round table at one end.

Michael P. showed up as he had announced on the email list
with all the disks. He did a copy of Knoppix while there after
I told him it was an exclusive Linux Pro that could not be
gotten online. It seems to have been a comment of mine that
got him to post the multi-sum script to the list.

John S. brought in his notebook and a load of grief.
He tried out the Knoppix 7.5 and liked it.
Spent some time answer questions of other attendees.

Ken S and his wife showed up shortly after 11 AM

Maestro came in and did not have much to say but
was web surfing and talking to Michael P.

Erik A. Is a new user with Debian on his Dell Inspiron 7356
(number may be wrong as I did not write it down), which
is a pretty hot machine with some quirks under Debian.
No optical drive but a 4 core i5.
I got him a copy of Knoppix 7.5 as he was having problems
with Debian. I am not sure which version of Debian it
used.
Erik had already tried to sign up for the mailing list
but somehow had a problem. Michael P. helped him with
that detail.

Joseph P. came to the meeting and looked much better than
on his prior appearance. He returned a couple of borrowed
magazines.

Jim Stockford showed up shortly after 12 Noon and contributed to
the discussion. I gave him a copy of the latest Scientific Linux
which he appreciated.

At 1 PM the meeting broke up and we went on.
Jim gave Joseph and myself a ride home but insisted
on stopping by Office Max.
At Office Max he bought some disks for himself
and for me so that my expenses in keeping up with
distributions could be reduced.
After he dropped me at home he and Joseph went on
to take Joseph home.

Now besides saying that I hope that the attendees offer
corrections and any additions to these notes, as soon as possible,
so that my errors will not remain long in the consciousness
of those who read the lists.
I have to say that I myself will be going off line to work on
my notebook and this work may take two or three days.

     Thanks for your attention!

     Bobbie Sellers
