Hi LUGgers,
I downloaded both the Fedora Live W(ork)S(tation) 21-5 and the
Fedora Live KDE 21-5 both for the x86_64.
Both on DVDs booted without problems.
Both have tools to install the iso file to Flash Drives for faster
responses. This is a good idea by the way as the boot is a
bit slow.
If anyone wants to try out the 686 versions let me know
ASAP.
Kernel is 3.17.x and works fine.
The Work Station version is fairly complete but the KDE version
lacks a lot of the KDE tools that i use every day. It does not
have Firefox but Conqueror. The KDE is not extremely advanced but the
plasma cashew when its space is taken up by a panel shrinks down to
a small square with the same capabilities as the full size cashew at
least in the upper right hand corner. This is a neat trick and I hope
the version of KDE in Mageia release 5 due next month has it.
No problems working with either versions.
WS has Libre Office tools while the KDE uses another
system, Calligra, I believe.
So it has nearly all the other desktop window managers
available on separate iso files, Mate, LXDE, Xfce.
Hope to see some of you guys next Monday.
Bobbie
