I Arrived about 1040 and setup by the striped couch as the place was
crowded then moved to center row of tables. We eventually got three
table lined up.

1105 everything but the optical drive was working and I managed to fix
that and booted up/
1110 the Shaffers showed up and then Joseph P.

1135 Jason got there with problems of installation of Linux on a Windows
box from the thrift store. We managed to resolve one of his problems
with the log-on using Password Reset CD.
We carefully explained the the Dell install disk he had acquired might
not applicable to his machine and that first you have to install the MS
program launcher then install Linux to get a working dual boot. Joseph
P. helped Jason with the use of the Password Reset disk I carry around.

I booted up Knoppix 7.4.2 and then with it running installed it to my
flash drive. I gave the copy of Knoppix that I used to Jason who had a
older version.Oh in case you had not heard Klaus Knopper put out 2 new
versions of Knoppix over the last week or so. He was trying to stay
ahead of the "Shellshock" problem which Ken says is actually in C library.

Knoppix ran fine if a bit nervously. I tried Iceweasel 32.x.x which
looks like it is designed to run on a tablet with apps. I tried to
check the local weather at CBS5 local and all it would show me was the
apps they wanted me to download. I used Google on Chrome and managed to
find a weather report but the first one offered was in Germany. I guess
Klaus Knopper has the Google site in Germany dialed in.

All thru the meeting I took minimal notes on KWrite using a file on
an SD card for this purpose. That file was created on the SD card by my
  file and directory manager.

Tom Turner showed up at 1214 with a older machine and a problem
running virtual machines. It seems to be his first visit with us.
Ken Shaffer assisted him and we tried to make sure he had the disks
  he needed.

Eric showed up about 1245. I had tried to book up Open Mandriva
but it was pretty slow and took over the machine. Finally I had to
leave the machine running and stick it in my rolling case that way.
At home plugged back in the machine, which was extremely hot I managed
to break out of the Open Mandriva loop and will try it again when I have
little better to do.

The main part of the meeting was over about 1 PM but it took me a
bit try and repack my rolling case. I rode the 38 Bus back to Geary
and I was tired walking two block uphill to my apartment.

The next meeting at Cafe Enchante is on 20 October 2014 in the
evening (6-8 PM).

Hope to see you all there.

Corrections and emendations to this report are welcomed.
