/usr/bin/sha256sum is an integral part of GNU coreutils.

So, for example:
http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/4/idpl/19399670/dir/mandriva_2011/com/coreutils-8.12-1.2-mdv2011.0.i586.rpm.html

(But, don't get it off the Internet.  Get it from your distro package
system.)
