[sf-lug] new Epson printer. whee.

    Well i thought I would share this
     My old HP Deskjet 695C had broken down.  I proved it
to my satisfaction with my dual boot laptop as it would
print neither from Open Office in Mandriva 2009.1 Free
nor from OOW in Vista on the other side.

    I had a multi-page letter to a friend in the valley
which I had been working on for a year.

    Today in the late afternoon i caught the 38 Geary to Masonic
and got the new Epson Stylus NX 515 multifunction machine
at Office Depot and carried it back on the 38.

    Very excited I rushed the setup and had minor problems.

    I ran into some problems with libgtk and pipslite-wrapper
but I finally ran across some information that Gutenprint
would work without the pipslite-wrapper and it did!
Got a clean test page and then printed out my letter.
    Still have to try the other functions but the printing
is the best I have ever produced.

    I haven't had a new printer since I bought my 9-pin
Star back in the 1980 when I got my Commodore 64.

    This Epson printer is on sale thru Saturday at Office Depot.
    It doesn't use an external power supply and it is not much
bigger than my old HP.

    Anyone want an old HP for parts?
    No answers overnite and it goes back to Goodwill where
 I found it so many years ago.
