[sf-lug] laptop upgrade recommendation

You may have attempted this already, but hook the laptop to an
external monitor (function-F7 toggles).  It is quite possible that you
have an inverter board problem, not a problem with the video 'card'
circuitry.  If that is the case, you can replace the inverter/screen
and use it as a laptop.

Either way, a laptop with a dead screen is a great energy efficient
server with built in UPS.  :)

A T42 should be able to take two 1 gig sticks.  If my memory serves
me, one slot is under the keyboard and the other slot is under a plate
on the bottom of the laptop.  Both are user serviceable.
