No, sorry - that's the somewhat-standard regular expression syntax for 
search and replace!

Try doing a search and replace in that file (in nano, you can do Ctrl-W 
(abbreviated ^W) Ctrl-R (abbreviated ^R) to put it into search and replace 
mode).  Search for us.archive.ubuntu.com and replace it with 
linux.csua.berkeley.edu.

Then save and quit, and then "apt-get update".
