I am not an expert on lpadmin but it might help to see the output of
these two commands:

ls -l /dev/lp0
strace -f lpadmin -p OfficeJet -v parallel:/dev/lp0 -m OfficeJet.ppd

Also after the error see if there is anything interesting in

dmesg |tail
