[sf-lug] sf-lug news update

hiya ron, and thanks!

first thought: i believe that the FOSS stuff success
is a function of how much wealth is behind it. if you
give me money, then the wealth going to linuxy stuff
is what i spent. if you spend money on some linuxy
thing or another, then the wealth going the the linuxy
stuff is what i spent plus what you spend: more wealth
to the linux and FOSS community.

second tho't: there are no preconditions, only biases.
the way things worked, the new machine is running
CentOS 5.<something-or-another> with a XEN kernel.
the balug VM is a debian distro. i forget what the
sf-lug VM is. i forget what the general purpose VM
is, too. shame on me, i'll look things up.

third tho't: financial costs of running sf-lug.{org,com}
are teeny tiny: some business cards, some printouts,
the DNS registration fees, the current box (which i
bought specially for this purpose, but i'll get it
back after we put in the new box, donated by silicon
mechanics, whose logo we should add to the sf-lug
web page). the time costs are more significant: help
with various community projects, sys adm the machine,
improve web pages, come to meetings....

fourth tho't: great. let's use this mailing list to
pungle up ideas that have various appeal, including
some that appeal to you.
