did that question about the vi command get the sf-lug folks going or
what!
very entertaining indeed.
Almost makes me want to give up doing new installs and start learning
vi.
Oh, and by the way: I do usually use emacs or nano and was aware of the
importance of using the -w option. 
Bobbie: do you know if any of the CDs you've got are compiled for the
Pentium (pre pro; i.e. 586; pre i686)?

I'll try going to the USB /dev (I should have thought of that myself)
but not until after some sleep.
