[sf-lug] external hard drives for Linux

Does anyone here have recent experience with purchasing an external hard
drive that *just works* out of the box with Linux?  I have had decent
experience in the past with Iomega, and I am going to be making a
recommendation for a newbie who will be using it with the notebook that I
mentioned in an earlier post.
