<div dir="ltr">Just so there's a record in case anyone else had the issue the bug below has a fix:<div><a href="https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7502">https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7502</a><br></div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Tue, Sep 22, 2020 at 12:29 PM Don Smith <<a href="mailto:dcsmith@gmail.com">dcsmith@gmail.com</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex"><div dir="ltr">I am using the proprietary chrome remote desktop. I feel better about it then opening my own port as I, maybe misguidedly, trust them to do a little security even via obfuscation. If there were a service that would reverse tunnel for me with similar clients I'd probably use it. The issue seems to be, however, in creating duplicate logins. I also had setup rdp sessions to the same box and saw the same behavior. I'm wondering if it's a limitation of xfce that I can't have 2 gui sessions going at the same time, or if it's a setting. I've done the x tunneling but it's super slow.<div><br></div><div>Thanks again for the response Grant, and good to hear from you.</div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Tue, Sep 22, 2020 at 12:23 PM Grant Bowman <<a href="mailto:grantbow@gmail.com" target="_blank">grantbow@gmail.com</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex"><div dir="ltr">I'm not sure I follow completely. Do you mean the proprietary protocol "chromoting" <a href="https://remotedesktop.google.com" target="_blank">https://remotedesktop.google.com</a> ? There are other ways to share a desktop using open protocols like vnc. Depending on what you want to do an ssh session might work better with tunneling. A remote x session is more direct over some kind of connection. Unfortunately there's not enough information to understand the setup between the machines and other possible connection and usage limitations.<div><br></div><div>Best wishes,</div><div>Grant</div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Tue, Sep 22, 2020 at 11:50 AM Don Smith <<a href="mailto:dcsmith@gmail.com" target="_blank">dcsmith@gmail.com</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex"><div dir="ltr">Hi,<div>I figured this might be the place to check. I use xfce with ubuntu studio. I also use google chrome remote desktop. Unfortunately, and I didn't have this when I was running ubuntu 16.04 with unity, I seem to be able to only have 1 desktop session open at a time, so if i login to the remote desktop it only works if i logout the desktop session. Is there a way around this? I haven't looked too deeply but was wondering if anyone on the list was very familiar with xfce to see if they understood how the sessions work.</div><div><br></div><div>Hope everyone is doing well, I will say even as an infrequent attendee I do miss the in person meetups, and hope this whole madness blows over soon.</div><div><br></div><div>Thanks again,</div><div><br></div><div>Don Smith</div></div>
