On all my Android devices I load not only the Google Market/Play Store
but also the Amazon Appstore and FDroid.

I recommend listening to the video of Bruce Perens sitting next to RMS
speaking about the economics of open source. "The first key intuition
that you need about open source economics is that 95% or more of the
sofware in your business, whatever it is, is non-differentiating
software."

According to Jonathan Heidt it seems open source software contributors
are a collaborative group that are an evolutionary development as
described in this TED video. Free riders that I think you are speaking
of will lose in the long term.
