             ^ 1993.

Richard Couture and I were both experimenting with freely available
*ixes, first 386BSD, then Linuxes. At first, we weren't even aware of
the emergence of Soft Landing Systems (SLS) or Slackware, the first two
distributions: We'd never heard of a distribution, so we were
downloading H.J. Lu's boot & root 1.4 MB floppy image files, and
building up HD-based systems starting from their RAMdisk.

Slackware, when we heard about it, made the work a lot easier.
