<div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">I was not previously aware of this particular story. I googled the man's name and immediately found many news stories, including 2 local TV stations. So obviously this story was important to people in the community. </div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">On the other hand, it is not uncommon to get an email from NextDoor about something closer to my home and when I click to see more, the story has been suppressed. Then I look at the email and guess the subject must have been interpreted as not politically correct.</div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">I'm not sure which is worse, social media that allows everything and social media that suppresses anything that might be controversial. </div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div><br></div>

I seconded,<br>saying it seemed suspiciously like dog-whistling to white supremacists, <br>and that the charge of forcing a "melting pot" on the hilly and<br>expensive suburbs above Redwood City by placing someone named Michael<br>Thomas Cheek there is a little comical, the person being not what one<br>would call ethnic.<br><br>The same woman also claimed in that thread that sexual abuse of <br>children has no legal penalty in Greece. I pointed out that this was<br>erroneous, cited links to the specific parts of the Greek Penal Code<br>that make child sexual abuse a serious crime, and suggested she should<br>please retract the claim and apologise to Greek readers, as there is no<br>universe in which that is not offensive to that entire nation, not to<br>mention being flat-out factually incorrect. And I asked her to <br>please do basic checking of such claims in the future before making<br>them.<br><br>I'm pretty certain it was one or both of those two. Probably both.<br><br>Anyway, it's good to know that NextDoor's moderators are protecting<br>racists and xenophobics against the horror of being told their claims<br>are mistaken and consequently feeling bad.
