He promised great returns to his backers and wasn't able to meet their expectations. <br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">Actually IMO, he was the world' worst navigator. He claimed he was halfway around the world from where he actually was.
