The word "scary" has sinister connotations.<br><br>I think ATI has the best chance of opening up their specs, now that they're owned by AMD. ATI recently stated they have no plans to open the specs, due to DRM concerns. For reasons I'd rather not go into (you can do some Google research), it looks like ATI's fate is now very closely tied to that of AMD. It also looks like Intel's Core 2 Duo is now on a par with, or perhaps a bit faster, than AMD's 64 bit dual core offering, meaning AMD may start to fall behind again.
